Hughes Memorial Tower

Still a cool structure even if it isn't the Eiffel Tower. Really anything made almost completely out of steel is beautiful to me. We owe a significant debt to steel and how it built the modern world. Of course, for all the good it did for Pittsburgh back in the day, the city became known as dirty and then the bottom fell out in the 1980's as production shifted overseas. We used to brag that during the cold war the Soviets had a nuke targeted at Pittsburgh due to our steel making capacity when, in reality, the Soviets had pretty much every city with a population above 100 (and vice versa for the USA) since there were enough bombs to go around. In any case, steel, we thank thee.
