There are many reasons to dislike the beach. The sand gets into cracks on your body you had no idea you had. The sand contains microbes that will give you dysentery. The sand makes virtually impossible to eat or drink anything effectively. OK, so maybe sand is the only thing to hate about the beach, though it's a double edged sword since the sand can also be shaped into castes (why always castles?) and it feels good underneath your feet (unless it burns the heck out them). I just like the warmth and the knowing that you can cool down by going into the water, unless you are in the Gulf of Mexico; that water is like hot tub.

Volcanic Beach Sand in a Piton Beer Bottle
This is volcanic beach sand from Anse Chastanet resort on St. Lucia. Piton was the local beer and it was delicious, sort of like Pennsylvania brewed Yuengling (not the stuff from Florida). I digress. The beach was the prettiest I have and will ever see. If you go, you must do all-inclusive for the sole reason of enjoying "Happiness on the Beach" where they bring you a bucket of Pitons and spray you with this cool water peppermint. I look at this bottle of the sand and am almost instantly taken back there.
Sand & Shells in a Beer Bottle
Having done the sand-in-a-bottle trick before, I thought I would change it up this time and try and put all these little seashells in the bottle, giving a cool little mini seashell display. It didn't work; the bottle looks like it is simply filled with sand. If I had more time, and more ambition...maybe. The shells/sand were taken from Sandbridge beach, south of Virginia Beach.

St. Pete Beach
Many people enjoy touching the plate at a restaurant after the waiter/waitress clearly indicates that the plate is hot just to see what the definition of "hot" is in this particular instance. The Gulf of Mexico was a similar situation for me when I visited St. Pete beach. I was told it was hot, especially in the middle of August, and so I decided to see how "hot" it really was. Long story short: it felt like a hot tub that was inside of a sauna.
